Pieces

I liked this film because it touches on duplicity, and loss of innocence. Throughout the course of the film smart, straight-A’s schoolgirl Jenny falls in love with man-about-town David, who is twice her age.He sweeps her off her feet, and was convinvingly charming enough to persuade Jenny’s parents into allowing her to go to Paris with him for an errand (to meet Signor C.S. Lewis. Yes, him. This is, after all, set in the very early 1960s.). She loses her heart and virginity there, and while there, she learns of David’s shady pasts and secrets. (They’re really good. His secrets. Please go see the film because I will not tell you. So there. *laughs*)This film raises the question, “Is risking your future worth having a full life today?” because prior to meeting David and skipping school, Jen used to be on top of her class and attendance in Oxford college soon used to be on top of her list.Jen wakes up from a fairy tale and into a nightmare, fast.
